True: Debut Avicii Album (Review)

It's been out for a while, but I love it so I'm still going to review it. After showcasing bits and pieces of the album at the Ultra music festival earlier this year, the long anticipated debut Avicii album is here and this is our review of it.

After releasing “Wake me up” featuring Aloe Blacc, EDM fans and complete strangers to the genre have been waiting for this Avicii album. Breaking the norms of EDM genre, fans of Avicii songs are in for a treat. There is a growing misconception that it is a country album. Let me assure you that it is not. Certain records like “Wake me Up” and “Hey Brother” do have a country and folk backdrop to it. But once you get out the notion that this is a country track and just listen to it as music, it is an absolute bliss to listen to. These Avicii songs cannot be pegged on a single genre.

While the previous mentioned songs is placed on a country and folk backdrop, the remaining songs on the album range from a rock-n-roll to a dance-pop vibe. In addition to the harmonic beats, Dj Avicii has combined them with some of the catchiest melodies I have heard in a long time. At the end of the day, I am extremely pleased with the decibels sounding off in my headphones. Maybe later on when the high has died down, I might nitpick a little more. But as of right now this Avicii album receives a 9.5 in my books. Call me Mr. Generous!

Have you heard the new Avicii album? If so, what did you think about it? Do you agree with me or not? Sound off in the comments!
